The purpose of the event was two-fold; 1) promote the mission of Rock the Vote to build the political power of young people, and 2) celebrate a handful of top distinguished women engaged in news media.

Female media honorees included: CNN’s Rene Marsh, Fortune Magazine’s Leigh Gallagher and WJLA’s Rebecca Cooper. Hay made short remarks regarding the powerful leaders and their accomplishments in the media industry.
